WikiList - a web application for sharing lists
Home

Purpose: WikiList is a web application for sharing information that is formatted as lists.

WikiList is intended for use by Communities of Practice.

Lists: Installation parameters, dictionaries, people, to do, bugs, inventories, variables etc.

History: WikiList was born when I worked at a software company and was assigned to improve knowledge sharing in the development department. I saw a need for a tool that will enable developers, business analysts and managers to share information that is formatted as lists. I wanted it to be quick and open, thus, Wiki. I have been laid of from the company (like many others) and continued to develop WikiList when I was looking for a job.

I am now releasing WikiList as it is. I am not a programmer or a UI designer. I can write code that sometimes does what I want it to do.

Technology: WikiList is written in PHP. The database is MySql. I have developed WikiList on Windows 2000 running Apache 1.3.20

Functions:
  • Create list
  • Edit list structure
  • Add/Edit/Delete rows
  • View one row
  • Sort list by column
  • Search list

List structure:
  • Name
  • Description
  • Name of a row in the list
  • Lines per screen
  • Up to 10 columns

Linking: Links can be created from a cell to other parts of the system with the use of the "Links Wizard". A "link" is actually a special syntax that tells WikiList to do something. The options for linking are:
  • Search for text in the first column of this list
  • Search for text all over this list
  • Show another list
  • Search for text in the first column of another list
  • Create a link to a Web Address (URL(
